Baldur’s Gate 3 developers meet to discuss the ‘launch’ and the studio’s CEO says ‘the mood is good’.
Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke posted on Twitter that the developer’s “lead summit” is kicking off today. The photo accompanying that tweet below is also where the lead developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 gathered two years ago to discuss “how to finish the massive RPG,” but this time the leads are gathering to discuss Larian’s new game.
Larian lead summit is about to begin – 2 years ago we came to this exact spot to discuss how to finish BG3. This time it’s to discuss the lift-off. The mood is good, the morale is high, a flood expected at any moment. pic.twitter.com/PQCZWa6POaJuly 8, 2024
This is the ‘lift-off’ part of Vincke’s tweet above, who also adds that ‘the mood is good’ and ‘morale is good’, which is of course what you want to hear from a developer, consisting of hundreds of people, who is about to start full production on their next game.
When we last heard what Larian was doing, the developer had two brand new projects in development, both of which were original concepts rather than continuations of existing series like Baldur’s Gate 3. Perhaps Larian will get together to discuss both new games rather than just one or the other.
It’s also nice to hear that “morale is good” at Larian. It’s been a little over half a year since Larian decided to scrap the Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC due to low staff morale in January. Vincke revealed that when he announced the DLC was being canceled, he saw “so many excited faces,” partly because no one really wanted to make it in the first place.
As for Baldur’s Gate 3, we’ll still get full mod support in September. Vincke previously said that this would be the moment Larian hands over the reins to the players.
Baldur’s Gate 3 streamer takes the RPG’s most unpredictable D&D class feature to level 11, allowing a signature sorcerer trick to be activated with every spell cast.
