Fast prediction

  • Today: Partly cloudy and less humid. Occasional showers? High: 85 to 91.
  • This evening: Isolated showers and storms, mainly in the south. Lows: 61 to 69.
  • Tomorrow: Mostly sunny, light breeze, moderate humidity. Highs: 84 to 90.

Detailed forecast

You’ll be forgiven if today feels like a new life. The return to seasonal temperatures should continue through the weekend. The shower outlook is a bit bleaker as the front that brought storms last night doesn’t move far south. This could bring storms and higher humidity back to our area over the weekend.

Today (Thursday): The bulk of the showers and storms should be well south of the district by sunrise. However, there is just enough instability to keep a slight risk of isolated showers popping up at any time of day. Most of us will stay dry and appreciate the less warm and humid air with light northerly winds. Highs will range from the mid 80s to near 90. Confidence: Medium-High

This evening: A few isolated showers may linger into the evening, but should quickly dissipate after sunset. Light winds from the north will remain under partly cloudy skies. Lows will range to the 60s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow Friday): This is the day to get out and about with highs mainly in the mid to high 80s and manageable humidity levels (dew points around 60). Sunshine dominates with just a few scattered afternoon clouds. North-easterly winds remain light. Confidence: High

Tomorrow evening: The drier air and calm winds make for a lovely evening as temperatures slowly drop to the 70s. Nighttime lows will be mainly in the mid to upper 60s. Confidence: High

A look ahead

We start our weekend Saturday with a cautious eye to the south. Moisture looks set to flow back into the area as a weak disturbance moves northeast along the front. This brings the risk of showers and possibly an afternoon storm. Fortunately, the heat is still being held at bay by a fair amount of cloud with highs mainly in the mid to upper 80s. Chance of showers will continue well into the night. Lows will drop to the upper 60s to lower 70s. Confidence: Average

For now it looks like the front may bend slightly to the south. Sunday. But humidity is on the rise with dew points rising back to around 70. A few showers and storms are possible in the late afternoon and evening. Highs should rise into the upper 80s to lower 90s, with lows overnight in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Confidence: Low-Average

A new wave of showers and thunderstorms is possible Monday as another disturbance is likely to migrate into the area along the front, probably just south of us. The greatest chance for significant storms is south of the city. Highs will range from the mid 80s to low 90s. Confidence: Low-Average
