Jennifer Garner’s Daughter Violet, Ben Affleck, Reveals She Has Post-Virus Illness, Demands ‘Mask Mandates’

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s eldest child revealed she suffered a post-viral illness in 2019 when she called for mandatory mask requirements at Los Angeles hospitals during a city council meeting on Tuesday.

Violet Affleck, 18, shared her experiences recovering from the virus in an emotional plea to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, saying “the county should oppose the mask ban for any reason.”

During the public comment period, a portion where residents are given the opportunity to ask questions and advocate for a cause, Violet introduced herself and urged the board to renew the mandate.

“Hello, Violet Affleck, Los Angeles resident, first-time voter, I’m 18,” she said in a clip of the meeting shared on X.

“I developed a post-viral illness in 2019,” she continued, donning a face mask. “I feel OK now, but I’ve seen firsthand that medications don’t always have answers to the effects of even small viruses.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic has made this even clearer,” she added.

According to the Mayo Clinic, post-viral illness, also known as “long Covid,” occurs after a viral infection.

Symptoms can last for months and often include fatigue, lethargy, memory loss, difficulty concentrating, and exhaustion.

“One in 10 infections leads to long-term COVID, a devastating neurological and cardiovascular disease that can take away people’s ability to work, see, move and even think,” Violet said at the meeting.

“It will exacerbate our homelessness crisis and the suffering of many people in our city. It will hit communities of color, people with disabilities, the elderly, transgender people, women, and anyone in public, essential work the hardest.”

In February, Los Angeles authorities announced that employees and visitors to healthcare facilities in the city would no longer be required to wear face masks.

Officials say more than 37,000 people have died from COVID-19 in Los Angeles during the pandemic, followed by coronary heart disease and Alzheimer’s.

“To address the long-term COVID crisis, I demand that masks be made available, air be filtered and far-UVC lamps be installed in government facilities, including prisons and detention centers, and that masks be made mandatory in medical facilities in the region,” the teenager added.

“We must expand the availability of free testing and treatment and, most importantly, the region must oppose the ban on face masks for any reason.”

“They don’t keep us safer, they make vulnerable members of our community less safe, and they make it harder for everyone to participate together in Los Angeles. Thank you.”

Violet also wore a mask last year to Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin’s party in the Hamptons, where she was photographed alongside her father and stepmother Jennifer Lopez.
