As anyone who knows me will tell you, I can’t stop talking about my Meta Quest 3. It’s a truly life-changing piece of tech that made me fall in love with working out, and it’s also just plain fun to play with when I’m trying to rack up high scores in Beat Saber and Pistol Whip. At the moment, I’m taking it with me on trips so I don’t miss a Supernatural workout, and I’ve even gotten a few family members hooked on its immersive VR experiences. Suffice it to say, I’m having a lot of fun with this thing, which is why I highly recommend taking advantage of this Prime Day deal before it’s gone tonight.
The Meta Quest 3 is currently marked down to $430 on Amazon, just a dollar below the lowest price we’ve seen and one of the first big deals I’ve found on this popular headset, which launched last fall. That saves you a cool $70 that you can instead spend on some key accessories, some of which I recommend below.
Our best VR headset, the Meta Quest 3, is a completely standalone device — no cables or external computer required. The biggest upgrade over the Quest 2 is full-color passthrough, allowing for some really cool mixed reality experiences that blend the real and virtual worlds (like a zombie shooter where the undead walk through your physical door).
There are fitness apps like FitXR and Les Mills Bodycombat, immersive games like Asgard’s Wrath, traditional apps like Tetris Effect: Connected, and a bunch of social and productivity apps. You can connect it to your gaming PC for an even more robust VR gaming experience, and you can even stream Xbox games straight to the headset without the need for a console. And while it’s not the cheapest gadget around, it’s pretty affordable as far as headsets go – at this retail price, you can buy eight of them for about the same price as a single Apple Vision Pro and get your whole family into VR.
I love the rubber coating and the extra knuckle grips these provide, especially when I’m swinging my controllers wildly in Supernatural. This improved version of the grips I use allows for easier access to the battery compartment, and as someone who’s constantly swapping batteries, I’m tempted to upgrade.
If you want to dive deeper into the experience, or just enjoy your favorite VR games without disturbing your housemates, these Quest-optimized earbuds are a great option. I experienced surprisingly little lag during heated gaming and workout sessions.
The Quest 3 works well out of the box, but I’ve purchased a few accessories that have made mine more comfortable and workout-friendly — and luckily, you can score Amazon Prime Day deals on many of them. As someone who uses their Quest for exercise, I wouldn’t go without a face covering (which makes the headset easier to clean) and a set of controller grips (which keep said controllers from slipping out of my sweaty hands). It’s also worth considering add-ons like a carrying case to keep your headset safe in transit, or a charging station to keep yours charged.
Prime Day is coming to a close soon, and your chance to score a Quest 3 on sale probably is, too. If you’re ready to see what all the hype is about (or to stock up on add-ons for your current headset), now’s a good time to do it.
