WESTWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a UCLA student in her on-campus dorm room, authorities said.
Jeffery Brewer, 41, was arrested late Friday night.
According to a UCLA police statement, he entered the room at Saxon Residential Suites in the 300 block of De Neve Drive around 2:40 a.m. Friday morning and allegedly sexually assaulted the woman as she lay in bed.
Brewer then left the room in an unknown direction. The woman was “medically treated at the scene,” the statement said.
“Detectives quickly developed leads and after a day-long search, officers located and arrested the suspect at approximately 9:45 p.m.,” the statement said. “The victim and two witnesses positively identified the suspect.”
Brewer was arrested on charges of assault with intent to commit a felony, unlawful restraint, burglary and forcible sexual penetration, campus police said.
He is currently being held at the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center, where his bail has been set at more than $1 million. Eyewitness News learned that campus police arrested Brewer on a misdemeanor charge in July 2023, according to inmate records.
